-  A Top 30 with pictures, extracted from this list, can be seen in 'Record Collector' Magazine - November 2009.

-  Compiled in 2009 by Chris of Retro-Madness with assistance from Graeme Sharpe, Paul Birch and Kev from Madsounds.

-  The above is not intended to be an exhaustive list, but a broad representation of 35 years of Madness collectables.

-  To make the list visually interesting items without artwork (eg white label pressings) were generally excluded.

-  Updated in December 2014 with 10 new entries.

  • The original version of above list was thrown together to meet a very tight deadline (I think we had about 3 days to put it together). Record Collector magazine then refined it down to a Top 30 which they printed as a double page spread with pictures. The full Top 100 list has since been updated slightly to include 10 new entries but there are still many rare and interesting collectables that have been missed out. So during the course of 2015 we are welcoming nominations of interesting rarities that we missed / overlooked, in order that at the end of this year a fully illustrated Top 200 can be published.
  • The eligibility criteria for items to be included in this Top 200 list are as follows:
  1. It must be an official Madness item worth in excess of approx £25.
  2. It must be visually interesting (an list of 200 white label test pressings and acetates would make rather dull reading / viewing).
  3. It must be something that was produced in quantities greater than one (unique competition prizes or personally signed items are obviously highly valued in both monetary and sentimental terms but aren't things that can be collected by a multitude of people).
  • The Top 200 Madness Collectables chart will be published at the end of this year. Please contact us with any nominations for this chart by 1st December 2015 (hopefully this 11 month deadline will be slightly more helpful than the 3 day deadline we were given)!
